About the conductress

Valéria Szebellédi Conductress Valéria Szebellédi has a successful carrier path (National Music School, Kodály Secondary School, Academy of Music, répétiteur of Children's Choir of the Hungarian Radio). Now she is the head of Magnificat Children's Choir and also teaches in the Erkel Ferenc Primary Music School and the University of Music Arts (till 2006). Her lessons and lectures are regularly visited by foreign guests.

As a guest conductress or lecturer, Valéria Szebellédi worked several times with united international children's choirs both in this country and abroad (Spain, Italy). She visited four times to Japan, invited by the local Kodály Association to teach solmization and conducting, managed seminars, trained choirs of different age and type, acted as conductress in concerts. As a member of juries, she acted in international Festivals in Tokyo, Budapest and Debrecen. Ms. Szebellédi is member of the KOTA Committee of Art.

Her place of birth is Kecskemét and it is a commitment. Vocation of Kodály appears in her activity, teaching, conducting, in seminars and Festivals.

Prizes and decorations, awarded are: Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Culture (1985), Silver Cross of the Republic of Hungary (1998), Decoration for "Terézváros" (1999), Special Prize of Conductors, Debrecen (2000), "Kardos Pál" Commemorative Medal and Artisjus Prize (2003) and Medal of the President of Republic (2004).
